Liberty State Park is a state and national treasure. But its promise is unfulfilled. Nearly half of the park is contaminated and remains off limits to the public in one of the most densely populated communities in America. As a resident of New Jersey, I am writing to express my deep concern about Commissioner Shawn Latourette and the NJDEP’s plan to flood Liberty State Park with 170 acres of water.
I support enhancing Liberty State Park with a Community Center, multi-use fields, community gardens, an amphitheater, and an outdoor marketplace. Jersey City and Hudson County need fields not flooding since Liberty State Park is already surrounded by 600 acres of water!
I look forward to your continued efforts in enhancing the beauty through fields, not flooding of Liberty State Park.
